A list of books I have read/am reading:
READING: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, by Washington Irving *literary genius piece, draws you in to keep reading. I found many similarities between Ichabod Crane's travelling life of teaching and my life. He taught school and taught singing and lived with the families (whose students he taught) each a week a time. Almost felt I was reading a bit about myself. I personally felt very "understood" reading this short story, by the fact that someone would "almost describe" my life.
From Jerusalem to Irian Jaya, by Ruth A. Tucker
-seriously if you need inspiration for missions, look here..you need some time to sit down and read it though..
READ:
Passion and Purity, Elisabeth Elliot
Pilgrim's Progress in Today's English, Paul Bunyan
The Gammage Cup, by Carol Kendall *A really great book! Read it outloud to my sister after reading it myself.
A Parcel of Patterns, Jill Patton Walsh (AMAZING book. I have read multiple times. The ending always leaves me gushing with tears.)
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte *read outloud to my sister! has a very melancholy beautiful feel to it
The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne *boring in my opinion but it has a very solid point to it, and the summary at the very end sums it all up very well I think. I think the main point at the end is the best part of it, though the story itself is quite a bore to read. Have read it twice.
The Shining Company, by Rosemary Sutcliff
